Tierra del Fuego
After sightseeing in Argentina's vibrant capital, Buenos Aires, we head to the extreme South and the town of Ushuaia, on the archipelago of Tierra del Fuego. You simply cannot go any further south unless you're an Antarctic explorer! There's time to explore the forests, lakes and bays of coastal Tierra del Fuego National Park.
Torres del Paine
We travel across the Magellan Strait to Puerto Natales and spend two full days walking in Torres del Paine National Park. The world-famous granite towers which soar to over 1800m are breathtaking and the region's pristine alpine lakes and mountains abound with wildlife - guanacos, black-necked swans, eagles, rheas and silver fox - a most amazing natural habitat.
Stunning Spires of Fitzroy
We drive around Lago Argentino to Los Glaciares National Park, where we see the huge Perito Moreno Glacier, a 60m-high relic of the Ice Age. Deep blue in colour, this ever-changing glacier is a fantastic sight. Our final days are devoted to hiking among the lakes and moraines of Fitzroy, from our base at El Chalten, which offers superb views of the granite pinnacles and jagged spires of Mount Fitzroy and Cerro Torre - peaks which soar to 3375m.
