This trip is a detailed tour of Laos, combining the must see sights of historical Luang Prabang with some less explored, beautiful corners of the country. This is a great tour for those looking to see some of the regions most beautiful natural scenery and cultural sights.
After a full exploration of delightful Luang Prabang, the tour includes a magnificent 2 day river journey upstream on the Nam Ou river. This breathtaking journey takes you via lush green forests, limestone caves and picturesque fishing villages up to Nong Khiaw and Muang La Lodge in the far north of the country. There is time for trekking and adventure or simply relaxing in the wonderful surrounds of Muang La before heading down to the capital Vientiane.
The second part of the tour takes you to the far south of Laos (close to the Cambodian border). Here you visit dramatic waterfalls and explore pre Angkorian ruins as you travel through the Boloven Plateau and down to the 4000 Islands. At Kingfisher Eco Lodge you can visit the “Elephant Riders School” and at La Folie Lodge on Done Daeng Island there is a final bit of time to relax around the pool before heading home.
Accommodation is of a high standard throughout with a combination of boutique hotels such as Villa Maly in Luang Prabang and off the beaten track gems like Muang La Lodge and Kingfisher Eco Lodge.
