Traverse high passes, cross the stark but spectacular Tibetan Plateau to Everest Base Camp. This is one of the world’s classic road journeys. Traversing the Tibetan plateau is only part of the experience - equally important is the wealth of cultural interest which Tibet has to offer. The Buddhist culture combined with the warmth and friendliness of the people make this a truly unforgettable journey.
ITINERARY UPDATE: The itinerary published within our 2017/18 Discovery & Wildlife brochure was based on the anticipated reopening of a land border between Tibet and Nepal (which has been closed since the Nepal earthquake in 2015). Whilst a new land border at Kyirong has now opened to Chinese and Nepali nationals, it looks very unlikely to be open to foreign tourists in the near future. We have therefore altered our itinerary to fly into and out of Lhasa; the trip will start and end in Kathmandu as before. In addition to this, the Tibet visa office in Kathmandu has changed its opening days and application processing time, so the revised itinerary will now spend an extra day in Kathmandu before flying to Lhasa to allow time to get our Tibet group visa. Showing Land-Only prices, flights can also be supplied
