This trip is a story of empires; the Persian’s, Alexander the Great’s, the Roman Empire, the Byzantium and, finally, the Ottoman. They have all, along with countless other smaller kingdoms and civilisations left their mark and their monuments along this epic route.
It really is a journey back through the history of the regions and some of Asia’s most spectacular scenery populated by some of its kindest and most hospitable people. Anyone who has visited Turkey will concur with this, but it is doubly so in Iran and the monuments are staggering. From Istanbul’s Blue Mosque or the Aya Sophia, to the blue tiled domes of Esphahan’s stunning Persian Islamic architecture, this is a trip for the lover of antiquity and art. There is plenty of it, as we travel through the Roman, Greek and ancient Persian sites that litter our route across this cradle of civilisation.
