Located on the northwest tip of West Papua, Raja Ampat is an archipelago consisting of the islands Misool, Salawati, Batanta and Waigeo and over 1,500 small islands and cays.
The pristine beauty of the area both above and below the water is truly unrivalled. The variety of marine life can be amazing offering encounters with enormous schools of fish and regular sightings of sharks, manta rays and turtles. The islands that make up Raja Ampat are mostly uninhabited, with only the faint glow of a few night lights from small villages and fishing boats on the horizon and this lack of population pressure ensures abundant marine life and vibrant habitats.
Raja Ampat liveaboard itineraries vary in length from 8 to 14 nights. The itinerary below is based on an eight night trip on board the M/V Mermaid II. There are a variety of other liveaboards and itineraries available.
For all you divers out there who want a feast of marine life and want to enjoy the search for unknown species, this is the perfect getaway for you!
