Enjoy some of the world’s best adventure and exploratory diving in the Gulf of Chiriquí around Coiba Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Observe the fascinating and dynamic underwater world of the Tropical Eastern Pacific, an opportunity to encounter some of over 760 species of fish and 33 species of sharks including the schooling scalloped hammerhead.
Dive sites range from calm, shallow, protected inshore reefs, islands and break rocks, to the high voltage diving on deep pinnacles and sea mounts. The sites offer encounters with a great variety of marine life, and also to observe behavioural habits and witness the symbiosis between many species. Most dive sites are littered with cleaning stations which attract many pelagic visitors, giant fish, turtles, mantas and sharks. Between May and November keep an eye out for migratory visitors such as humpback whales, orcas, sperm whales and several species of dolphin.
This is an adventure for more experienced divers.
Should you wish to explore the country further after your diving adventure, Panama offers a range of exciting things to see such as the Panama crossing, beautiful beaches, islands, rainforest with fantastic birdlife and diverse architecture, all steeped in history. Take some time to visit the Soberania National Park for its birdlife and the Chagres River to meet the local indigenous Embera people.
