Run by: Discover The World
Reference number: ANTARCTICA-PENFLY6NT
Take the 90-minute flight from Punta Arenas in southern Chile to King George Island, the largest in the South Shetlands archipelago, avoiding the infamous Drake Passage which stretches between South America and the Antarctic continent.
The adventure really begins when you board the ship and spend the next few days exploring this incredible region - your itinerary will be dependent on weather and ice conditions, but highlights may include the huge flooded caldera of Deception Island, the wildlife of Livingston Island, Port Lockroy and Cuverville Island. Look out for whales, penguins and seals and enjoy spectacular scenery and breathtaking icebergs from the ship or Zodiacs whilst your Captain aims to reach the dramatic and much-photographed Lemaire Channel, crossing latitude 65° south.
Various options regarding itinerary choices are possible; flying aross the Drake Passage in both directions, as well as flying just one way.
