KwaZulu-Natal is a stand-alone wildlife holiday destination rich in South African culture and connections with Britain. Winston Churchill was captured here as a young war correspondent during the Anglo-Boer war, and the Anglo-Zulu war played out on two significant battlefields that can be visited today. The scenery is spectacular, with two Unesco world heritage sites: iSimangaliso Wetland Park (formerly the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park) and the majestic uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park. The wildlife reserves of KwaZulu-Natal rival those of Kruger National Park or the Eastern Cape. Hluhluwe-iMfolozi is the oldest game reserve in South Africa and has made great conservation efforts to protect, breed and restock endangered white rhinos€ross the continent. A visit to South Africa is not complete until you have visited the friendly people of KwaZulu-Natal.
