Beginning among the Art-Noveau architecture and pretty harbour of Alesund, traverse deep into Norway's western fjords on this spectacular intinerary via the hairpin bends of the famous Eagle Road. Arrive at the beautiful shores of Geirangerfjord where you’ll explore over three idyllic days, from mountain hikes to cruises alongside the rippling cliffs. Alongside it all you'll enjoy dips in the outdoor pool and delicious dinners offering the very best of Norwegian fare.
Day 1: UK/Alesund
Board your flight to Alesund and, on arrival, check in to the Hotel Brosundet. Here, antique beams and timber floors are the frame for Alesund’s pretty streetscape and waterfront. Perhaps spend the afternoon strolling among the city's pastel-hued Art-Noveau architecture and venture the 418 steps up Mt. Aksla to be greeted with awe-inspiring views of the snow-topped surrounds. End it all with a drink at the swish hotel bar – we also recommend treating yourself to the five or seven course degustation menu where you’ll be taken on a culinary journey through some of Norway’s finest dishes, paired with sommelier-chosen wines.
Days 2-4: Geirangerfjord
After collecting your hire car, your journey towards one of Norway's most famous fjords begins – we recommend going via the epic Trollstigen that sees you traverse mountain passes and past roaring waterfalls. Check in to the charming Hotel Union on arrival before two days of exporing see you head on road trips on the switchbacks of the famous Eagle's Road, cruise the fjord idylls and visit the area’s highest peak for wonderfully panoramic vistas. And, after days exploring, look forward to multi-course, gourmet meals, included in your stay.
Day 5: Alesund
Today begins with rolling green valleys as you head back towards Alesund and the Hotel Brosundet. Stroll among the Viking ships that dot the harbour or head out to the surrounding rocky islets before dropping off your hire car. Then, tonight, treat yourself with a meal at one of the excellent seafood restaurants - your hotel's own offering is particularly notable, offering the likes of haddock dumplings to delicious, pan-fried catch of the day.
Day 6: Depart for UK
After breakfast, make your way to the airport for your flight home.
