And, between stays among Bergen’s historic buzz, you’ll explore its walking routes, crashing waterfalls and charming fjord villages with boat cruises and bus hops taking the stress out of it all. Along the way, you’ll enjoy stays in hand-picked hotels, where included breakfasts and dinners showcase the finest local ingredients. There’s also the option of extending your stay in any of the villages, or changing this route to a road trip.

Holiday itinerary

Day 1: UK/Bergen

Flying out from the UK, you'll be welcomed to Norway's second city by your stylish accommodation – one of Tripadvisor's top-five Bergen choices. The complimentary dinner buffet is a particular highlight. It's also perfectly poised to explore, with the famed Hanseatic wharf just a short distance away. Here, you'll be able to trace the city's trading past that lives on in colourful timber houses, today transformed into art galleries and cute boutiques. Don't also miss out on Bergen's famous funicular railway, offering superb fjord and city views.

Day 2: Voss & Ulvik

You'll leave Bergen behind today on the first of your included transport options. Catching the train , you'll soon watch the city give way to pretty rural views before you arrive into Voss – a tiny, colourful hamlet perched idyllically on the banks of a river. You'll swap to a bus here, following the verdant valley curves to arrive at Ulvik. Another charming village, it lies right on a remote arm of Hardangerfjord, surrounded by high mountains. It's the pretty setting for hikes and your country-hotel stay, where you'll enjoy an included dinner.

Stay: Brakanes Hotel Ulvik

Days 3-4: Eidfjord & Lofthus

You'll hit the water today with a scenic half-hour boat ride along the fjord itself – the chance to fully appreciate the sheer scale of its great green-dappled cliffs. Then, a bus ride along the waters' shores will bring you on to Vøringsfossen. At 145m in high, it's perhaps Norway's most impressive waterfall. A bus hop followed by a further sightseeing cruise will then see you on to Lofthus. Often referred to as the 'Orchard of Hardanger', this fjord-side idyll is especially beautiful in late spring and early summer, when pink and white fruit blossom adds an extra flourish to an already stunning landscape of green hills and snow-tipped mountains. It's all reflected in the tranquil waters of the fjord – the beautiful setting for your spa hotel, where you'll enjoy indulgent half board, in between time to relax or hike.

Day 5: Norheimsund & Bergen

You'll have some further free time in Lofthus today before taking the boat to Norheimsund in the afternoon, enjoying one last sweep along the fjord's glassy waters. From here, a bus will bring you back to the coast, mapping river curves to arrive in Bergen. It's a final chance to nose around its superb art galleries, perhaps joining its fashionable set in the hip bars, after your included dinner, of course.

Day 6: Depart for UK

After breakfast, make your way to the airport for your flight home.
