Thought Switzerland’s peaks were just for winter? Think again. You’re invited to escape to the beautiful Swiss Alps with us on a virtual evening that promises plenty of inspiration and ideas. There are many year-round adventures to be found here: expect tales of hikes past rushing waterfalls, dizzying views, kayak trips across clear lakes, hearty food and much more. With talks from both local industry experts and a seasoned travel writer who has made Switzerland her home, you won’t want to miss this.
You'll have the chance to ask our expert panel your burning questions. The evening will kick off with tales from travel writer Caroline Bishop. Caroline fell in love with Switzerland and has now made the country our home. She will be telling us all about last summer which she spent having adventures in Valais and the Bernese Oberland. We will also be joined by industry experts Emilie Morard who will bring the canton of Valais to life, and Franziska Glutz from Bern.
Caroline Bishop is a British travel writer and author who lives in Lausanne, Switzerland. She has written for publications including The Guardian, Adventure Travel magazine, BBC Travel and Wanderlust, and was the editor of anglophone Swiss news site TheLocal.ch for two years. She has also written two novels published by Simon & Schuster UK, the first of which, The Other Daughter, is partly set in Switzerland.
Alex Herrmann oversees the operations of Switzerland Tourism in the UK and Ireland as the London-based Director UK&Ireland, plus the teams of the Western European markets Benelux, France, Italy and Spain. Switzerland Tourism is the national destination marketing organisation and promotes Switzerland as a travel, holiday, and convention destination. In his role, Alex is a member of the Extended Executive Board of Switzerland Tourism. In his spare time, Alex likes to spend time with his family in the London parks, and hike in the Swiss Alps.
Franziska Glutz is the Marketing Manager UK & Switzerland for Made in Bern AG (promotion for the touristic region of Bern). She has been working for the company since 2020 and has got to know and love the region during her time here. As a travel and Bern enthusiast, Franziska loves nothing more than spending time in nature – both in the summer and the winter – enjoying adventures such as hiking and skiiing. She is always up for trying new things!
Emilie Morard is the Head of Markets Europe for Valais Matterhorn Region. Emily has been working for the company since 2013 so now knows the region like the back of her hand. Emilie is a self-confessed outdoor adventure freak and spends her free time getting active in the outdoors. She enjoys trail running, alpinism and rock-climning in the summer. During the winter, Emilie spends her time ski-touring. Her motto is 'you choose where your limits are'.
