Carolyn McIntyre

Carolyn McIntyre has been living in a 300 year-old tower house in Old Sana'a, Yemen since 2007. In 2006 she set out to re-create the travels of Ibn Battuta, the great 14th century Moroccan traveller as exactly as possible. She has blogged about her travels through Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Israel, the West Bank, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iran, Oman, Tanzania, Kenya, Sudan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan on www.girlsoloinarabia.typepad.com. When not travelling and writing she leads tours in the Middle East, (although not right now), Central and SE Asia. She has taken a hiatus from both pursuits to write a book about her experiences that is part travelogue and part memoir of more than three decades living and travelling in the Middle East.
