"Vietnam has been on our ‘list’ of places to visit for years, so we were thrilled when Wanderlust phoned with the news.
"We began in Hanoi, and had a wonderful night on a junk in Ha Long Bay: the weather was misty so you can understand why the locals think the rocks are dragons. Further south, we visited the Tra Que 'vegetable village' where we learned to cook tam huu pancakes with pork, shrimps and herbs – these have now been recreated several times back home!
"In Hue, we took a sampan trip on the Perfume River, and finally our trip ended in Ho Chi Minh City, a modern city with 4.5 million motorcycles. When crossing the road our guide told us, “Just keep walking, the motorcycles will miss you!” – and they did, luckily.
"We had amazing time – thank you to all concerned."
