Do you dream of visiting a buzzing town square in South America? Strolling through the incredible green spaces of Europe? Or perhaps a more action-packed trip, paragliding through mountains, reaching leg-trembling heights, or speeding across the sea on a powerboat? What if we told you, you can do all this without even leaving your home?
Yesterday (23 March) Wanderlust revealed an exciting new experience for travel enthusiasts. Taking the next step in this digital era, Wanderlust is reinventing the way we can travel, bringing incredible journeys to you through the power of virtual reality.
Welcome to the Metaverse, where your favourite destinations await.
At an exclusive launch event, Wanderlust invited tourist boards and travel representatives to The Ritz in London for a first-look at Wanderlust MetaTravel. Donning some impressive headsets, guests were transported from one of the five-star hotel’s most extravagant rooms across the Atlantic Ocean to Colombia, for a sneak preview of the virtual world.
Immersed fully in sight and sound, first they visited a golden-sand beach, followed by a close encounter with a jaguar, before reaching dizzying heights inside a cable car while looking out at the most impressive Colombian views. The virtual reality users were able to turn around and see a full 360 visual of the remarkable and realistic landscapes.
Once returning to room, Wanderlust also revealed how those without virtual reality gear can experience the 360 experiences via their desktop, using a computer touchpad to guide their own tour around a destination. Try it out for yourself here.
Whether you’re curious to try a destination before you go, or even want to relive some of your favourite travel memories, Wanderlust MetaTravel is guaranteed to take you on a journey like never before.
