What was your first great travel experience?
Going to Ghana when I was ten days old, I suppose, but I don’t remember anything about it!

What has been your favourite journey?
A three-month roadtrip through East Africa in a beat-up old Land Rover with my husband and some friends.

Which are your top five places worldwide?
Nepal; Tanzania; Madagascar; Peru; Alaska.

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
I’ve got some very pretty Malaysian visa stamps with holograms, which brighten up a passport no end.

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
I’d love to go to Mongolia and one day – if at all possible – to Afghanistan.

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
Lounging on a beach in Greece.
