The best from myWanderlust this week

We're after a blogger to tell us about their adventures. Let the journeys begin...

A couple of weeks ago we began our search for a blogger to step into the sizable walking boots of Marie Javins, AKA Wander Woman. For the past 114 weeks, Marie has taken us with her as she wandered around the world, popping into little-visited corners of the globe and showing that solo female travellers can have adventures too.

We asked people to post samples of their writing in the Experiences section of myWanderlust. The response has been amazing – pop over and have a look for yourself. Choosing a winner is going to be hard – real hard.

A couple of people have gone off-brief, so I thought I’d take the chance this week to clarify exactly what it is we're after. (A good place to start would be the archive containing Marie’s blogs. You’ll find it here.)

Basically, we’re after someone who is in the middle of a grand journey, or maybe just finished it. We want you to take us with you every step of the way, from start to finish, through the highs and the lows. You’ve got to engage us, entertain us, intrigue us and introduce us to characters. It can’t be a catalogue of ‘things that happened.’

Preferably, you are already blogging about your experiences. This is your way of getting your adventure in front of loads more people.

Some of you have posted stories about shorter journeys or more fleeting experiences. It’s not what we’re after in this case, but don’t despair. We have a weekly slot for your kind of blog too. It’s called Blog of the Week and it’s a lot more freeform. Your blog post can be a list, a story, advice – whatever you want.  As long as it’s about travel we’ll consider it. And if it’s chosen, you’ll get a sexy badge to display on your site and a big bump in traffic. You’ll find more about submitting your post to be considered as our Blog of the Week here.

So what are you waiting for? If you’ve got a journey you want to take us on, put the first installment up over at Experiences and draw us in. If you’ve got a more general travel blog you’re pretty proud of, tell us about it here.

Oh, and while you’re at it, have a bit of a wander around myWanderlust.

It’s a terrific place to hang out and find inspiration and advice.
