The best from myWanderlust this week

And they reckon Disneyland is the friendliest place on earth

This week, myWanderlust has been the very definition of friendliness. Quite literally. Pop over to Lyn’s Forum post on the friendliest people on the planet and you’ll come across a detailed and reasoned debate on the true meaning of friendliness as well as the distinction between being friendly and being friends.

That’s what I like about myWanderlust and myWanderlusters. They go that little bit further. And MarkyMark, there’s a reason Victorians appear to be more friendly than us New South Welshmen. But, sadly, this is a family publication, and I can’t go into it.

In the spirit of friendliness, I’d like to welcome myWanderlust newbies KayTro and Adventurous Annie. Both have announced their arrival with a slew of fantastic experiences. Adventurous Annie tells all about her Australian cycle trip. And KayTro sets us straight about Wales and being Welsh, the fine art of operating theme park rides in America and the joys of Fall in Ontario. Great to have you onboard.

While you’re over at Experiences, make sure you check out the tales from our ‘old-timers’ as well. Helen Bamber is back with a terrific story about Marrakech. While Liz Cleere discovers a ‘fourth’ kind of island in the Maldives.

Over at Just Back From, myWanderlust’s very own Arrival Lounge, scheungy is back from Krakow raving about this wonderful compact city and its ability to move her teenage son. AlycewithaY has been trekking in Oaxaca and recommends Oaxaqueñan hot chocolate and sunrise hikes, not necessarily in that order. And Tim W has returned from a stint volunteering in Uganda.

Trishd has been trekking in the south of France and Alan Taylor along the Great Ouse. Both have tales to tell and wisdom to impart.

It’s been busy over at our Video section this week. Often overlooked, there has been a real flurry of activity: Peterj2002 has uploaded footage of a starling murmuration in Zeals. Elfproject takes us on a beautifully shot journey through Kolkata and Angela R leads us by the hand through Monument Valley in Arizona. Make sure you’re strapped in tight for BeyondBenjamin’s bi-plane flight over Lake Winnipesaukee.

Finally, make sure you get over to the Photography section and check out Chandaala’s set of images on the faces of India. Quality.

Cheerio from the friendliest workplace on earth. See you next week.
