The Best from myWanderlust this week

A strange Irish man asks if he can come into your tent. What do you do?

5 mins

Welcome him with open arms, of course.

That seems to be the consensus of on the Forum this week. The Trekker of Fintown popped up after a long absence asking to be let back in, gifting myWanderlusters with a new travel saying in an attempt to sweeten the deal. Needless to say it was the most commented post on the Forum this week as our very own prodigal son was welcomed back to the fold. Fin, you had us at "Arrah".

Elsewhere on the Forum, Liz Cleere wants to know if you have a favourite museum. (May I nominate all of the museums listed here?)

Roody2Shoes is back too, and blessed us with wonderfully written tales about her adventures in America. Whether the Southwest is your thing, or the wine of Santa Fe or even the more rustic side of Pasadena, you’ll find something to inform and delight. Just head over to Experiences. Roody has colonised it this week.

I say that, but if you scroll down a bit you’ll also find Liz Cleere pining for Newfoundland. And Pete Selman reporting on a rare sighting of the Bolivian Armada on Lake Titicaca.

While we’re on the subject of returns, don’t forget to swing by Just Back From. Pete C has been in Iceland. It was too cloudy to see the Northern Lights but he loved the waterfalls and the geysers. Beckfoot60 is back from Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands with the advice that whatever amount of time you plan to spend there, it’s not enough. Jill Cochrane, another face we haven’t seen for a while, has been to Burma and was blown away by the friendliness of the people.

Closer to home, Howellsey played in the snow above Sprinkle Tarn. And DrG dropped by the Veolia Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.

If you’re feeling the cold at the moment, you might want to give our Photography section a bit of a miss. The Flower in Power at the Towers put out the call for pictures featuring snow and myWanderlusters responded in their droves. Too many to highlight, of course, but don’t forget to get your metaphorical snow shovel out and have a dig around for some unrelated gems. Roody2Shoes has posted some snaps of her trip to America. Davids has put up some pics from Halong Bay. And wolf presented us a picture of a lion. (Go figure that one out!)

On that note, it’s time for me to say goodbye for another week. I’m off to zip my tent shut and play hard to get.

Unless Fin brings a six pack of Guinness and a jar of those sweets he brought with him to London.
