Morocco to lift international flight ban next month

Morocco has announced its international flight ban will come to an end in February after a three-month suspension.

The UK has not been able to enter Morocco since October, as the country halted flights between the two countries due to rising Coronavirus cases in the UK.

The suspension on all international flights and ferry services in and out of the country was then extended from 29 November.

Authorities had previously announced the travel ban would continue until 31 January.

However, yesterday (27 January) official Moroccan media outlet MAP published a government statement confirming the ban will be lifted from 7 February.

The MAP stated: “This decision comes in accordance with the legal provisions relating to the management of the state of health emergency and following the recommendations of the scientific and technical commission and taking into consideration the evolution of the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom.”

There are still no decisions on what entry requirements are needed once aircrafts are allowed to re-enter the country.

However, the UK Government’s Foreign Travel Advice states: “When flights resume you will need to provide proof that you have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with the second dose administered at least two weeks prior to travel, and a negative PCR test result before boarding your flight or ferry to Morocco. “
