With Spring approaching, it's about time for Japan's famous cherry trees to explode in beautiful pink flowers. To celebrate, we've put together our favourite Instagram posts of the blossom...
In Japan, it is very important when the sakura (cherry trees) are in bloom. The blossom symbolises human life, nobleness and hope. The Japanese celebrate the blossom with hanami, a cherry blossom festival that welcomes in Spring.
The best time to catch the trees in full bloom is from late March to early May, depending on where in Japan you are. However, this year has started earlier than usual, and the beautiful blossom can already be seen in many places across the country.
