From the Editor: The best from myWanderlust this week

Things are getting a little screwy over at myWanderlust this week

7 mins

I'm not sure if it's the weather. Or just a sort of post-Olympics, pre-Paralympics hysteria, but things have been a little strange over at myWanderlust over the past seven days.

Matjcook announces that 2013 is the year he is going to travel. And bilbo-baggins goes walking with hobbits.

Hmoat01 brings a bit of sanity to proceedings with a lovely piece about discovering alien worlds only a few miles from home.

The Forum, meanwhile, is awash with people looking for help. Purplepots is going to central Turkey in October. Kbcara wants to be anywhere else but here on New Year's Eve. And Jill Frazier wants a local perspective on Evesham in Worcestershire. You can help them all here.

Ros-in-wonderland is Just Back From watching the great migration in Kenya and has great advice on how you can too. Sarah Manuel has been to a wedding in Munster and still found the time on compiling advice on what to see and do there should you find yourself in that part of Germany. And Scorchie has been in Grindelwald, just down the road in Switzerland and recommends lunch at Wengneralp. Oh, and if you're wondering where the sun is, Julia69 has just returned from New York and says it's there.

It's all gone a little Gallic over at Photography. Rhoda1 has posted a stunning selection of the France's great outdoors. Pliers has a gallery of the Bastide villages of Perigold. And Kathryn has posted some photos from a recent trip to the French Alps. Gemita, on the other hand, has broken rank and posted pictures from further afield, Torres del Paine in Chile, to be exact.

Finally, I don't often get the chance to call out to all our budding videographers, but this week has seen a flurry of activity on the Video section of myWanderlust. Davids has posted a fantastic video of a family of otters tucking into a pile of fish they just caught. And Val Yellow has uploaded a film about her day watching whales in New Zealand.

If you're after something a little slicker, though, check out the video posted by elfproject. Titled Enchanted Amazon, it's beautifully shot and evocative.

And not at all crazy.
