From the Editor: The best from myWanderlust this week

Hello. Thrillaxed to be here.

5 mins

Oh, you don't know what thrillaxing means? Or illaxing or hillaxing or nilaxing or pillaxing? You need to get yourself over to Liz Cleere's rant about new trends in travelling. She's as mad as hell and in the mood for a bit of killaxing.

Elsewhere on the forum, Kavey is pointing people towards some of the world's most mysterious sights. Some of them are indeed mysterious. Like the rocks that slide across the Racetrack Playa in the Death Valley National Park. How do the park rangers do that without leaving footprints?

The collection also featured the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland. I'm probably going to get myself in strife here but I found the Giants Causeway distinctly underwhelming. It was much smaller than I imagined. I guess you risk that by putting the word Giant into the title. I should point out that I had also just come from the Bushmills distillery from up the road. The real mystery is how my wife managed to drag me out of there!

Mooseontheloose wants to know what fuels your travel lust. Or as we prefer to call it here, your wander-lust (Did you see what I did there?). Surprisingly for Moose, it's not the chance to stumble upon the largest of the deer family in the wild. Rather, it is photography. The Happy Wanderer nominated an insatiable appetite to discover and explore this wonderful world. The thrill of learning the rudiments of a new language motivates Fintown Trekker. Liz Cleere admits she has an itch that needs to be scratched (she should really have that looked into). What fuels you?

Lesmec wants to know if the weather is OK in September in north India. She's planning to pop over there next year and needs your advice.

Just back from and Teddy Wanderlust breezed into town with a love for good music, oranges and Federico Fellini. He spent two weeks in the UK and found the ability to speak English a great help. Steve48 asked the big question: 'Who are you and where are you from?' When I last checked there was still no answer from our mystery man.

Alan Taylor just got back from western Cyprus and declares late October/early November to be the ideal time to visit the island. The water is clear, the sky is blue and gentle sun makes walking and visiting open archeological sites a real pleasure. Just make sure that quaint looking taverna is the real deal – and not one set up for expat Brits and Germans.

Liz Cleere had a good old wander around Kolkata and recommends dropping by the South Park Street Cemetery. The last resting place of the city's great and good, it's also home to thousands of black crows. Spooky.

Morgan Hannah survived an attempted abduction on arrival in Vietnam and ended up enjoying the rest of her stay immensely (I must ask Liz if that is regarded as thrillaxing). Morgan recommends Mui Nei, a small, sleepy sea-side fishing village where you can get away and languor under the palm trees on the beach.

Experiences and we finally learn where hmoat 1's partner took her on her surprise trip. Twelve possible destinations. Only one winner. And it was Barcelona. Bizarrely, it made her think of Prince Charles. I'll let you read her story to find out why.

Sararevell has a lovely story about a cat and winemaker in Croatia. And Morgan Hannah, fresh from nearly being abducted in Vietnam, tells us about her experiences as a volunteer in Peru. Then does her level best to get us all on the next flight to Colombia. She's convinced me. And Dew has posted a number of experiences about Ranthambore in India, giving the sloth bears, the tigers and the Zone 8 buffer space their own posting. I get the feeling that Dew was impressed by the place.

Is it just me or are everyone's photos getting better? Satkinson's shots from Picos de Europa are stunning. Travmaz got some really interesting wildlife shots from Kenya, which is not easy to do. And Jamie Furlong's images from a day in Ernakulam are pure class. Must have been all those Take Better Travel Photos magazines we sold!

Good to see Chandaala courting controversy with his psychedelic shots from Scotland. What would myWanderlust be without it's occasional Photoshop dust-up?

Or, as I like to call it, fauxlaxing.
