From the Editor: The best from myWanderlust this week

The summer is over and the sun finally comes out. What's that all about?

I don't know what the weather's doing in your neck of the woods, but here at Wanderlust Towers, the sun has finally put in an appearance after going AWOL for the summer. Shadows are being cast by the jets flying over head, freaking out our Production Editor, Tom. Having not seen shadows for almost the entire summer, he flinches each time he sees one, convinced that a jet bound for Heathrow is instead plummeting towards our offices.

Judging by the posts over at Just Back From, summer has been good pretty much everywhere else. Our very own Daisy Cropper has returned from the South of France looking bronzed and raving about the remarkably clear waters of Port-Cros island. Lydiah is back from Frigiliana, Andalucia with tips on where to best enjoy the beautiful sea and mountain view. Ehalford met some nice French people in Les Carroz and tells how you can too. Nataliaaa is a self-styled publicist for Abruzzo with lots of tips and advice on this stunning corner of Italy. And Caohihmin reports back from a five month wander around the world with news on just about everywhere.

Over at the Forum, Kavey is putting the finishing touches on her itinerary for Tokyo and wants your help. Roovilla mourns the passing of bmi with a condensed history of the company (did you know that they started as Derby Aviation? Neither did I). And Doodle001 has four days en-route to Rajasthan and wants you to help them fill it.

Jwow puts out a call to all the tech-heads out there, wanting to know the best solar charger for iPhones. Kathryn, on the other hand, is considering popping over to check out the world's biggest miniature railway at Miniatur Wunderlund in Hamburg and wants to know if it's worth it. Help them both out here.

Experiences this week has a distinctly Americana vibe. Roody2Shoes has posted four accounts celebrating some of the more eccentric people and sights in the USA. The first is a tribute to the pioneering women architects of the Wild West. The second is a report on a massive outdoor art installation created by the Avery Business Supply heir, Dennis Avery. The third introduces us to East Jesus, a city on the slabs. And finally, an intriguing piece about Leonard Knight and his attempt to build a mountain out near Salton Sea. All worth checking out.

Ellie102, on the other hand has been to Florida, checking out Miami's Design District and attending a political rally.

Rhoda1 breaks with the theme and posts an excellent report on her recent trip to Nagaland. If you are considering a trip there, make sure you read her piece first.

Once in a blue moon we put out a call for night-time photos and you responded – big time. Head over to our photography section and check out the selection. And while you're there, check out elfproject's set from the Lake of 1001 Colours and Peterj2002's shots from the opening day of the Paralympics.

That's it for the week. I'm off to catch a bit of sun before it disappears again. Speak to you next week.
