In the Jungle, the mighty jungle, DrG sleeps tonight

5 mins

Actually, that's not strictly true. DrG is back in London now. But he has just returned from the steamy jungles of Brunei Darussalam, comparing snoozes with proboscis monkeys and getting up close and personal with small furry creatures that look like squirrels but quite patently aren't. Don't believe me? Then check out his photo gallery here. Or browse his Just Back From report where he suggests trying the Gadong Markets for a meal when the Bandar Seri Begawan KFC just won't do it for you.

Elsewhere on Just Back From, DeborahCater is back from Veneto, Italy, with tales of an English woman who fought for the unification of Italy and a gallery of photos of Italian people sleeping. Satkinson is back from Antwerp raving about the architecture and the beer. She recommends Cogels-Osylei for the former, the Kulminator for the latter. Ellie102 has returned from a Soviet-style summer break at Lake Valence, Hungary. And Calamine2808 marks her triumphant ascent of Pico Ariero, Pico Torres and Pico Ruivo in Madeira with tips on how you can do it too.

Over at Experiences, clarewilson86 is still banging on about Iceland, this time the south coast (I'm sorry if that sounds a bit uncharitable, but honestly, it's all she ever goes on about here at Wanderlust Towers. That, and how she wished she'd bought one of the beard hats). Ellie102 lifts the lid on the Mafia's hidden presence in Naples. And VikkiRed delights everyone with a tale of getting reacquainted with old friends. A top read, as the number of positive comments the piece has received attests.

Would you work in travel? ElliFry is considering a career change and has hit the Forum looking for your advice. Minimarch wants to know if it's possible to visit Petra from Sharmel Sheikh in a day. Scheungy is looking for an entry-level DSLR. And Val Proctor wants to know if it is possible to hire a car to drive from Venice to Split. You can help them all here.

While you're over at the Forum, why not drop us a line about where you're heading this month?

It was Independence Day in the States earlier this week, so it seems fitting that our photo gallery is awash with stunning images from some of the country's finest national parks. AngelaR has posted a set from Monument Valley and Zion National Park, respectively. And wolf has given his fish-eye lens a workout in California and Utah. Vicky_jade continues to taunt us about her trip to Gili Meno with photos of sugar white beaches. Bilbo_baggins shows off a selection of her pictures from Bled in Slovenia. And Jenny 2311 has presented us with a nice set of images from India.

Finally, pebbles111 has posted a set photos of seagulls in Burnham on Sea.

Just so you know.
