From the Editor: The best from myWanderlust this week

OK. Let's make this quick. I'm off on a Belgian Beach Holiday™

5 mins

By the time you're reading this, I'll be sitting on the few metres of coastline belonging to Belgium, soaking up a bit of Flemish sun, with a plate of mussels and frites in my lap. Or, more likely, sitting in a nearby bar cradling an ale hand-crafted by monks, cursing that Belgium's weather is just as bad as Blighty's.

I'm telling you this just in case you're upset that I didn't mention that photo/experience/forum question/just back from that you posted yesterday. It was great, really. I just haven't seen it yet.

Thankfully, it's been another bumper week on myWanderlust so I have plenty of great contributions to salute, even though it's a couple of days short. Like ESnell's masterful piece about disturbing an intruder in her hostel in Mexico in experiences. And Col44's informative piece about shell suits in Serbia. If you like your leisure wear and you're heading to the Balkans any time soon, it's a must read. DavidRoss' love letter to Dundee is worth a read as well.

On the forum, newcomer Syrup89 has approached respectfully, asking for advice on planning a big trip around South-East Asia. Syrup89 is feeling a little overwhelmed and wants to know where to start. I'm with Treacleminer – book accommodation for the first night and then take it from there. What's your advice?

While you're in the mood for distributing pearls of wisdom make sure you let mattyboy876 know the best time of year to visit Burma, help JayR choose a laptop to take on the road with her, and direct MarkyB to a suitably charming establishment to lay his weary head after letting his hair down at a wedding in Windsor.

Oh, before I forget, satkinson wants to know where you're heading off to in April. I'm going on a Belgian Beach Holiday™. Or did I already tell you that?

Lots of great photos in our gallery this week. And from all corners of the globe as well. One minute you'll be clambering over glaciers along the Karakorum Highway with Jack Field. The next you'll be spotting hummingbirds with SolihullBob in Barbados. Clairethomas1484 has snapped fighting bulls in Switzerland. Peterj2002 gets behind the scenes at Laycock Abbey. It's off to Azerbaijan with Treacleminer. Then Jamie Furlong leads us through Humayun's Tomb with the help of a couple of Hindu hounds. All well worth checking out.

Just back from was a bit quiet this week. Scott Allen has returned from northern Chile with tales of timeless and serene villages and drinking coca tea with the locals. And Walking Machine visited Shan hillside villages in Burma. That's it, I'm afraid.

I'm expecting a deluge of top, timely tips after Easter. Look out for mine on the going rate for a deckchair in De Haan.
