Summer may be over but that doesn’t mean your outdoor adventures have to be. Continue to embrace the staycation this autumn and winter by wrapping up warm and heading out whatever the weather. To help, Craghoppers is giving you the chance to win one of five AquaDry waterproof jackets up to the value of £160. Here are four reasons you will love your new jacket…
Designed for moderate to heavy downpours, with a Craghoppers AquaDry Jacket, you can be sure you will remain warm and dry. As well as featuring taped seams and water-tight constructions, the outer face of the jackets are treated with a plant-based Durable Water Repellent, keeping the outer fabric drier for longer. The jackets are completely windproof and maintains body heat but also allows water vapour to escape to ensure it is breathable, keeping you comfortable.
Craghoppers doesn’t offer a Guarantee for Life for nothing. All of its products are high-quality and built to last – that’s better for you and the environment. If you do happen to get a hole in your jacket, the company will make sure it’s repaired for you for free, and if it is not repairable, it will be replaced. At Craghoppers, nothing goes to waste, not even damaged stock, which is donated to the charity Newlife – helping to raise money for disabled children – and nothing goes to landfill.
Craghoppers won the Drapers Sustainable brand of the year award in 2020 for good reason. From winter 2019 to winter 2020, it made the staggering jump from a 12% use of recycled materials to a whopping 70%. By the end of 2021, Craghoppers will have recycled almost 64 million plastic bottles. As well as taking care to recycle, the company also chooses its materials carefully. Instead of using down plumage, for example, all of Craghoppers’ insulated products only use man-made and sustainable insulation, which is hypo-allergenic, dries faster than down and offers just as much warmth. Similarly, the company only uses gold standard tanneries for its leather boots and shoes, uses recycled coffee beans in some of its shoes, and always ethically sources its wool.
The company is aiming to reduce its water consumption in all of its worldwide offices by 20% by the end of 2021, and is aiming to achieve the same in all of its factories by the end of 2022. It has zero landfill for any waste from its facilities, and over the last 10 years Craghoppers’ road miles have reduced by 400,000 a year.
The jackets, along with every other Craghoppers’ item, is made ethically. Craghoppers believes that honesty, courtesy and respect is the only
way to work with its customers, colleagues and the workers in its factories. That’s why the company is an active member of the Ethical Trade Initiative, constantly striving to improve working conditions and wellbeing through regular checks. And it works, with working conditions in Craghoppers’ factories remaining at a high standard. Craghoppers is also implementing a management training programme and promoting progression within the business for everyone, addressing gender bias and pay equality.
As well as this, the company has set up three main Social Impact Programmes to make a positive difference to the lives of those touched by the business. The RHEP Programme in Bangladesh, for example educates and empowers female worker on health, hygiene, nutrition and family planning. Also in Bangladesh, the Savar Primary School that is located in the same area as Craghoppers’ garment factories, has been funded by Craghoppers for over 11 years, offering education and nutritious meals for every child. Craghoppers also supports local primary schools in Trafford and Salford in the UK, helping the most vulnerable children with food, colouring books, pens, drinks and more.
Inspired by nature and brand-new for autumn/ winter 2021, Craghoppers has introduced EcoShield. The plant-based, naturally water-resistant treatment is kinder to the environment and is also quick drying, stain resistant and renewably sourced.
Craghoppers’ origins are humble: two outdoor enthusiasts who decided to turn their passion for travel into a bona fide business. Over 50 years later, and Craghoppers is a global technical outdoor and travel clothing specialist with innovation at its very heart. Whether you’re climbing in the mountains of Peru, exploring the forests of Costa Rica, or road tripping through Scotland, Craghoppers offers defence in every environment.
