WIN! A trip to Argentina and Chile, worth over £5,500

Closing date: 04 Sep 2019

Over 1 million sq km of glacial fjords, rugged steppe, vibrant cities and snow-dusted mountains combine to make up adventurous Patagonia, sprawling across most of southern Chile and Argentina. Now you can explore this epic, wildly contrasting destination for yourself, as Dragoman are giving readers the chance to win two places on their 23-day Backroads of Patagonia tour.

A two-country odyssey

You’ll begin in Santiago, Chile’s culture-laden capital, to sample culinary delights and world-class live music. Sip wine in the nearby vineyards of San Javier, before plunging into adventure in the Chilean Lake District, where volcano climbing, canyoning, horse riding, hot spring soaking and rafting await.

Next, experience the raw nature of the Carretera Austral, admiring the hanging glacier piled on the mountains, its icy waters sloshing over the sides. Rumble south along Route 40 into glistening Los Glaciares National Park, where you can hike around Mount Fitz Roy’s spire-like peaks, before craning at the thick wall of ice of the boat-dwarfing Perito Moreno Glacier.

Spend the next four nights camping under the stars in the world-famous Torres del Paine National Park. Lace up your hiking boots for the W Trek – an 80km challenge rewarded with views of cascading waterfalls, mountainreflecting lakes and the iconic cluster of nature’s own skyscrapers that gave the park its name.

As you reach the southern tip of South America, you’ll venture to Tierra del Fuego, the most remote part of Patagonia to explore swamps and unkempt forests, seeking out sea lions and king penguins. A journey to ‘the city at the end of the world’, the port town of Ushuaia makes for a fitting finish to this unforgettable trip.
