Editorial work experience
Wanderlust receives many more requests for work experience in the content team than we can fulfil. Because of this, preference is usually given to applicants who:
- Are on – or have successfully completed – a recognised journalism course, or who have already had some relevant experience
- Are regular readers of Wanderlust
- Are serious about pursuing a career in magazines or online
Placements are usually one or two weeks in length and are based in our London office. Successful candidates are expected to work Wanderlust’s usual office hours (9am to 5.30pm, possibly later in busy periods) and need to be prepared to turn their hands to anything.
We offer both print and online placements, or across both; please state if you have a preference in your application. Placements offer an excellent opportunity for someone who wants an insight into all aspects of magazine/online editorial and production. However, note that they are for people who are pursuing a career in media, and not for aspiring travel writers.
Tasks for the magazine will usually include fact-checking, research, sub-editing and editorial administration.
Tasks for the web will usually include uploading content, research and administration with the possibility of some writing tasks.
Applications should be in writing, enclosing a CV, marked Work Experience, Wanderlust Travel Media, Capital House, 25 Chapel Street, London NW1 5DH. Alternatively, email us on our info@ email address.

However, there are limited opportunities, and we only take the very best of the applicants!
