Ramblers Walking Holidays
Julia Bradbury’srecent TV series ’ Walks with a View’ and her€companying book ’Unforgettable Walks’ have highlighted the beauty of some of the country’s best landscapes. The countryside of South Downs National Park and the iconic white cliffs of South Eastern England have got to rank amongst the most remarkable views to enjoy on a walk. Here’s a chance to walk in Julia’s footsteps and experience them for yourself. We stay at luxurious and welcoming five-star The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne, a white palatial landmark on the resort’s western seafront since Victorian times. Youll certainly get the most out of this beautiful corner of England. East Sussex offers diverse walking terrain from gentle walking along the coast to the rolling hill country landscapes of the Weald and South Downs. This is home to the countrys newest National Park and six miles of spectacular coastline has been designated Heritage Coast. There’s also the chance to meet our Roving Ambassador and television presenter, Julia Bradbury, on the last day of this holiday. We begin with a walk on the coast of the High Weald from the village of Pett to the coast and then along the Saxon Shore Way to the cliffs of Hastings. We’ve a circular walk from Alfriston, taking in the Long Man of Wilmington, a huge and remarkable Bronze Age outline cut into the chalk of the hills and maintained throughout the centuries. We’ll also walk through the old smugglers village of Jevington, the home of banoffee pie, and Lullington Heath Nature Reserve before returning to Alfriston. On our last day we’ve our second walk in the South Downs National Park. We’ll drive to the Tiger Inn at East Dean to have coffee with Julia Bradbury before starting our walk through the Seven Sisters Country Park ?to Beachy Head€ross some of the most iconic white cliff coastal scenery in England. We have graded the walking on this holiday as moderate, which is ideal if you are not able to walk long distances and/or on strenuous paths. All we ask is you have a generally good fitness level and are able to walk distances of around 7 miles. (Please also ensure you dress appropriately for the weather conditions and we strongly advise you to bring suitable footwear such as walking boots.) Dinner with Julia We return to the comforts of our hotel. Over dinner you’ll have the opportunity to chat to Julia, have some of your questions answered and to hear her colourfully describe her travels and experiences, behind, as well as in front of, the camera. You’ll also receive a Goody Bag at the dinner containing Julia’s recent book and DVD together with some good outdoor kit - click on the What’s Included tab for more details.
