This tour focuses on the large (and smaller) mammals of two of Poland’s renowned wildlife areas – the Biebrza Marshes and Białowieża Forest, – as well as their exciting winter birdlife.
We explore the Biebrza Marshes and ancient forest of Białowieża in north-east Poland, in search of an array of mammals that includes European elk, European bison, Eurasian otter, European beaver, red deer, wild boar, red squirrel, roe deer and pine marten. If we are extremely lucky we may even encounter predators such as wolf or Eurasian lynx. All the while, we look for charismatic birds such as white-tailed eagle, waxwing, Eurasian eagle owl, great grey shrike and nine species of woodpecker.
