Holiday overview

Simply, this is a full appreciation of the Amalfi Coast. With the services of a private chauffeur, private guides and stays in historic hotels throughout, you’ll showcase both its highlights and lesser-known gems. Indeed, alongside the ancient wonders of Pompeii and Herculaneum, you’ll take in everything from Naples’ Baroque beauty and Sorrento’s pretty piazzas to Positano’s colourful jumble and Ravello’s hilltop charm. You’ll also enjoy the off-the-beaten-track east, with gorgeous beaches and welcoming church towns. There’s even the opportunity to explore the historic island of Capri. It’s all linked by gorgeous drives and the chance to sample the famous Italian gastronomy, not least with an included lunch and wine tasting.

Holiday itinerary

Days 1-2: UK/ Naples

After making use of your complimentary airport lounge access, you’ll fly out to Italy. A private driver will be waiting to see you to your accommodation – a boutique gem housed in what was once a 16th-century conservatoire. Located right in the city’s UNESCO-listed historic centre, you’ll also be perfectly poised to explore, with two days to wander leafy boulevards, take in the city’s Baroque friezes and sample the artisanal pizza. To help you get your bearings, we’ve included a private half-day tour. You’ll enjoy entrance to everything from frescoed chapels and the neoclassical Royal Palace to the 18th-century San Carlo Opera House and the Palazzo Zevallos – home to some of Caravaggio’s finest works.

Stay: Grand Hotel Santa Lucia, Naples  (Superior)

Day 3: Pompeii, Herculaneum & Sorrento

After breakfast, you’ll be met by a private driver for the short journey to Herculaneum and Pompeii. Together, they’re a pair of world wonders – millennia-old Roman towns perfectly preserved by volcanic ash. And, from brothels and villas to great amphitheatres and frescoed bathhouses, it’s all brought to life by the services of a private guide. You’ll even finish with an included wine tasting and light lunch, held among the vineyards of Sorrentino Winery on the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius. Your driver will then bring you to Sorrento’s historic basilicas, café-lined piazzas and fisherman’s marinas. You’ll also be staying in a 19th-century Art-Nouveau gem.

Stay: Hotel Continental, Sorrento (Superior)

Day 4: Amalfi, Positano & Ravello

Today, you’ll have the full services of a private chauffeur for a tour of the Amalfi Coast, travelling at your pace and stopping at places that interest you. Driving the famous Blue Ribbon Road, it’s delightfully scenic, all tunnel gasps and coastal winding. While Amalfi’s sun-drenched piazzas, whitewashed lanes and Byzantine cathedral are an obvious highlight, Positano might just linger longest in your memory. Here, pastel-coloured houses tumble down vertiginous cliffs and wisterias drape over crisp terracotta. Then, after pausing among church-village Ravello’s hilltop charm, you’ll end in Minori, where your luxury hotel is built around the remains of Roman villa. Expect everything from spa treatments to a private swimming pool.

Stay: Villa Romana, Amalfi Coast (Superior)

Days 5-6: Ravello/Amalfi/Positano

With your hotel just a stone’s throw away from the beach, you’ll want to relax with Minori’s pristine sands and famous pasta restaurants. However, be sure to also head out and explore. Nearby, there’s the terracotta charm of lesser-visited Maori, the just-caught seafood of beach-side Cetara and the famous ceramics and 18th-century Renaissance church of Vietri Sul Mere. We also highly recommend catching the ferry to Capri. Here, you’ll find everything from ancient Roman villas and bougainvillea gardens to historic whitewashed towns and cutesy fishing ports. That’s alongside the jet-setting luxury.

Stay: Villa Romana, Amalfi Coast (Superior)

Day 7: Depart for UK

After breakfast on your final day, you’ll be met by a private transfer for the scenic drive, over lush valleys, towards Naples. To break up your journey, we’ve included a stop at the Caserta Royal Palace. As one of the largest palaces built in Europe in the 18th century, a private guide will showcase its magnificent royal apartments and beautiful gardens. You’ll then be brought on to Naples’ airport for your flight home.
