Holiday overview

For those looking for sanctuary and seclusion away from the traditional tourist hotspots, this 13-day tailor-made holiday combining city, beach and jungle, could well be the answer. After a night in the colourful and chaotic capital Bangkok, you'll head to the wonderfully secluded Ndol Streamside Thai Villas in the Khao Yai National Park, a perfect base for exploring the region's verdant monsoon forests, home to wild elephants, gibbons, macaques and over 50km of hiking trails. End your holiday with a week on the pristine beaches of Koh Kood, one of the least developed islands in Thailand, covered in tropical rainforest. This is Thailand as it used to be; see it while you still can.

Holiday itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Bangkok

Arrive in Bangkok where you'll be met and transferred to your hotel, perfectly located in the centre of the city on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, a bustling waterway that winds its way through the very heart of the capital.

Spend the rest of the day relaxing at your hotel, or head out into Bangkok to discover some of the city's wonderful temples, markets, shopping and restaurants.

Stay: Riva Surya Bangkok

Day 2: Bangkok to Khao Yai

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel before transferring three hours north to the Khao Yai National Park; a jungle-shrouded region of some 2,168 sq km, which incorporates one of Asia's largest monsoon forests and holds the honour of being Thailand's oldest, and most visited, nature reserve. Check into your resort and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Stay: Ndol Streamside Thai Villas

Days 3-4: Khao Yai

Spend two days exploring Khao Yai at your own pace. Mountain biking, hiking and elephant treks are all great options for exploring the forests, hills and waterfalls of the park, where, if you're lucky, you'll encounter some of the region's rich animal and birdlife; elephants, tigers, leopards, bears, deer, crocodiles, otters, gibbons and macaques all make their home within the park boundaries, and there's a spectacular array of birdlife to keep avid ornithologists busy for hours on end.

Stay: Ndol Streamside Thai Villas

Day 5: Khao Yai to Bangkok

Depart Khao Yai this morning and return by road to Bangkok where you'll have the rest of the day at leisure to further explore Thailand's pulsating capital city.

Stay: Riva Surya Bangkok

Day 6: Bangkok to Koh Kood

Your local guide will meet you at your hotel for your transfer to Bangkok airport, in time for a midday flight to Trat, a small town on the northern tip of the Gulf of Thailand. Here you'll be met by the resort staff and transferred by speed boat to Cham's House on the idyllic island of Koh Kood, your home for the next seven nights.

Stay: Cham's House

Days 7-12: Koh Kood

The next six days of your holiday will be spent on Koh Kood, one of Thailand's last untouched islands. Soak up the sunshine and serenity of this beautiful island paradise as you spend your days relaxing on one of the island's beaches; snorkelling and scuba diving amongst pristine coral reefs; and experiencing the island lifestyle while dining on the freshest seafood at a local fishing village. The resort itself offers luxurious villas and a wonderful range of facilities including a swimming pool, spa and choice of restaurants, as well as a number of activities including fishing, volleyball and kayak hire. Indeed, a kayak trip past dense mangrove forest to the stunning, three-tiered Than Sanuk Waterfall is a must.

Stay: Cham's House

Day 13: Departure

Transfer by speedboat back to Trat today in time for your onward flight.
