Matang Wildlife Centre:
You will spend 2 nights at the award-winning Matang Wildlife Centre, where you will assist with conservation activities which enrich the lives of the animals resident here. As well as orangutans, the centre is also home to sun bears, macaques, binturongs and so much more. You will help to feed the animals, provide enrichment as well as assist with general husbandry.
Bako National Park:
Experience the beauty of this protected area which is home to wild proboscis monkeys and so much more. You will take part in jungle treks during both night and day which certainly will not disappoint. Keep your eyes peeled at all times – Malaysia truly comes alive at night!
You will spend two days here, a Malay community in the coastal area of Sarawak. Here you can snorkel with turtles, take part in beach cleans, and spend time with the local community.
You will spend a night with an indigenous Bidayau community where you will stay in a wooden longhouse and experience the traditions of tribal life. This is a fascinating experience where you will learn about the ancient Borneo head-hunters – and you may even see some of their skulls!
Spend 3 days in the Batang Ai rainforest, home to wild orangutans, various species of monkey and other fascinating rainforest residents. You will have lessons in handicrafts, fishing, cooking amidst stunning landscapes, all whilst interacting with members of the local community.
Semenggoh Rehabilitation Centre:
Established in 1975, the centre is home to many semi-wild orangutans which you will be able to witness first-hand here. You will also see other animals the centre is helping to rehabilitate who arrived at the sanctuary from being orphaned or injured in the wild.
