Days 1-4 Nairobi, Lake Nakuru & Masai Mara ~
After your long international flight you'll be welcomed with champers and hot towels before being transferred to your hotel in Nairobi for the night. Relax and recover ready for a pleasant drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, situated in the heart of the Rift Valley and one of Kenya's most famous soda lakes. Home to thousands of lesser and greater flamingos that form a pink hue over the Lake, and a sanctuary for Rothschild giraffe, black and white rhino and the elusive leopard. After enjoying game drives here, we depart for Kenya's most famous and one of the richest wildlife Game Reserves, the Masai Mara. With 2 nights and multiple game drives right in the heart of the action, you'll soon see what makes this "big 5" game park so special.
Days 5-8 Serengeti & Ngorongoro ~
We then embark on our journey to the world famous Serengeti National Park, Tanzania's oldest park, and one of the world's last great wildlife refuges, where hundreds of predators roam the vast savannah plains and in particular there is a high density of cheetahs in the south. We experience game viewing during travel between destinations and also spend a whole day exploring the south-west section of the park. From here we move onto the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with panoramic views of the crater, the largest unbroken caldera in the world, and often described as a great natural wonders. It is teamed with an abundance of wildlife that permanently reside on the crater floor, including prides of lions, herds of cape buffalo, impala, Thompson gazelles, rhino, giraffes, golden & black-backed jackal, zebra, cheetah, leopard and the spotted hyena. Unmatched for its natural variety & breath-taking beauty, there are few places on earth where such a tremendous diversity of landscapes exist inside a region this size.
Days 9-12 Tarangire & Amboseli ~
Our penultimate stop is Tarangire National Park, which retains a real air of undiscovered Africa, particularly in the south of the park. We head out for game viewing drive in search of the highest population of elephants in Tanzania, admiring this beautiful and special location along the way. Finally, we make our way back to Kenya and into Amboseli National Park, which provides the classic Hollywood image of Africa. Set in rolling savannah scenery, it is dwarfed by the presence of the pink-tinged, snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing volcanic mountain in the world and topped by one fifth of all the ice in Africa. Against this magnificent backdrop roam vast herds of elephant accompanied by a kaleidoscope of other fabulous wildlife including lion, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe and a host of plains' game. After a last morning game drive we return to Nairobi for a final dinner and then we say goodbye...until the next time!
