The worlds first national park, Yellowstone is simply incredible, and winter reveals a side most travellers will never experience. Explore the Lamar Valley with a wolf and wildlife tracking guide and enjoy guided snowshoeing in search of wildlife. Stay within the national park borders, at a time when animals are scavenging for food with fewer tourists to scare them away. On this unique lodge tour, youll enjoy rare€cess to this geothermal winter wonderland where youll make your own fresh tracks in the snow. During winter, roads into the park close and are only€cessible by snow coach or snowmobilewe travel by snow coach. Known best as a summer hiking destination, come winter the rugged exterior is covered by a big beautiful blanket of snow and reveals a more tranquil, softer side. We will experience steaming hot geysers and snowshoeing away from the crowds. We begin with a short stop in Bozeman, before heading into the park boarders to Mammoth Hot Springs, even the name warms you. Here we can follow the boardwalks to discover bubbling pools and steaming vents from within the earth. The following day we spend our day with a Wolf and Wildlife Tracking guide (best job title ever). More than likely we will head for the Lamar Valley where wildlife is in abundance including wolves, elk, bison, and big horn sheep. The guide will set up a telescope to aid viewing and inform us all about the flora and fauna, history of the park, and what happened when wolves were reintroduced into Yellowstone. Giant snow coaches take us along the Grand Loop Highway, through the most magnificent mountain scenery and into Yellowstones interior. We stop along the way to observe wildlife and photograph views along the way, staying at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge. Here we strap on our snowshoes and spend days exploring the park on foot. The first morning will involve a guided lesson to help master the art of snowshoeing, then there is no stopping us as we head out into the park amongst geothermal pools. Our€commodation is located five minutes walk form Old Faithful geyser, in a timbered Snow Lodge. It is the perfect place to unwind after a day in the snow, with cosy roaring fires. On our final day, we travel back to Mammoth Hot Springs by snow coach, before returning to Bozeman by coach for one final night.
