From the tranquil seaside town of Olympiada, we follow a beautiful section of the 19 mile Aristotle Trail and walk the green Marmari peninsula. At Ouranoupoli, which borders the World Heritage Site of Mount Athos, there is the possibility of a cruise to view the magnificent hanging monasteries and enjoy a local walk. The ancient city of Amphipolis, inhabited from the 5th century BC includes a recently excavated tomb, probably that of one of Alexander the Greats family. The food in this part of Greece could be some of the best you have ever tasted. Breakfasts often include homemade dishes. Dinners will be taken at one of the towns delightful sea front tavernas and the hotels resident owner/chef Loulou gives an excellent demonstration of Greek cookery. Olympiada is ideal for those looking for a quieter holiday in a more traditional part of Greece. Nature is on our doorstep with walking trails, waterfalls and pine forests all around us.
