Trip Operator: Ramblers Walking Holidays
Scattered along the western coastline of Greece like jewels, the Ionian islands offer lush, green vegetation, wonderful cultural heritage and miles of walking trails. Spring brings an abundance of flowers and autumn offers warm evenings. The rugged island of Ithaca, Odysseus legendary homeland, offers trails peppered with panoramic views, archaeological remains, mountain scenery and quiet villages. A ferry ride brings us to Lefkada, a mountainous, valley-rich island. Natural springs, waterfalls and forests of oak and elm trees await us. We finish in Kefalonia, home to Mount Ainos, the tallest mountain of the Ionian islands, and the location for Captain Corellis Mandolin. Lush green hills, sandy beaches and sheltered coves can be discovered as we follow trails along the coast through quiet countryside.
