This stunning alternative climb of Aconcagua gives you a complete 360 degree view of this enormous mountain.
Cerro Aconcagua (6,952m), the highest peak in the Western Hemisphere, lies just within Argentina, some 12 kilometres from the Chilean border.
By hiking to the top of Aconcagua this route, you avoid the more popular Normal Route, where we also offer treks.
The 19-day itinerary is perfectly planned to allow maximum acclimatisation and the best chance of reaching the top of South America's highest peak.
The itinerary is physically strenuous and a great challenge, but is not technically demanding. It is suitable for most adventurous people with a good level of physical fitness.
Any experience of winter trekking and camping in remote mountain areas is a plus, but our excellent English-speaking guides can instruct you.
For information about high altitude, visit the Medex website, where there is a guide called Travel at High Altitude - a guide to staying healthy in the mountains.
Check our Books and Maps section where you will find a range of literature to help you get the most out of your South American adventure.
This trip has no fixed departures but restrictions may apply - check operator website
