Arrive in Rio de Janeiro and beat the flight fatigue with a bite to eat, a dip in the pool and a lengthy sunbathe. Kick off your holiday with morning tour of Rio’s many attractions before an afternoon at leisure to explore the local markets or hit the beaches. You have three days here to visit the awe-inspiring statue of Christ the Redeemer and enjoy a cable-car ride up Sugar Loaf Mountain, as well as discovering the local history, cuisine and nightlife. On day four, your A&K driver takes you to Paraty, stopping at Serra de Bocaina National Park on the way for a wildlife-watching experience. Paraty is full of insightful museums, delightful restaurants and pristine beaches. See the incredible waterfalls here too, and take a white-water rafting trip. Or you may want to spend some time surfing or cycling round this vibrant town. Fly to Salvador on day seven. Immerse yourself in the atmospheric market of SÃo Joaquim where sugar cane and tobacco were exported€ross the Atlantic. While you’re here, experience a capoeira workshop. This martial art is considered a Brazilian National Cultural Heritage and is great fun to learn. It originally came from African slaves who, under this guise of dancing disguised their practice of learning combat in secret. After two full days here, head up the Coconut Highway to Praia do Forte, where you can find some of the best beaches in Bahia. When you’re finished relaxing on the sand or snorkelling under the waves, get to grips with the natural and cultural sides of Praia do Forte. Explore ruins of the 16th-century Garcia D´Ávila castle and visit the Projecto Tamar sea turtle preservation project. Get€tive with horse riding, paragliding, boat rides and historic tours. You’re also close to Sapiranga Ecological Reserve where, if you’re still hungry for natural wonders, you can explore by quadbike to see some incredible wildlife – you may even catch a glimpse of the elusive jaguar. On day 13, make the most of your final morning with a last taste of Brazilian cuisine and perhaps a dip in the sea, before transferring to the airport for your return flight.
