Embark on this adventure by flying to Muscat, Oman’s ancient capital nestled on the Arabian Peninsula. Once firmly rooted in age-old incense trade, today the city is also a beacon of modern Arab culture where elegant mosques sit alongside elaborate shopping centres. You’ll be met by a member of our team on arrival for a private transfer to your hotel. As a new day dawns over Muscat, take time to explore every corner of this captivating port city where old-world tradition meets the new. Don’t miss the resplendent Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and the chance to explore the Bait Al Zubair Museum, with its remarkable collection of Omani antiques. Take a stroll along the panoramic waterfront Corniche, lined with international restaurants and traditional cafes. Then visit the hubbub of the Muttrah Souq for a spot of haggling before making the most of your free time later in the day. On your third day here, head out of the city and into the Jabal Shams Mountains to visit the impressive Jabrin Castle, built in 1675 by Imam Bil-arab bin Sultan. Afterwards, you’ll drive to Oman's Grand Canyon and stop along the way at Wadi Ghul and Wadi Nakher – abandoned farming villages built into the mountainside. The journey will then take you on to your luxury€commodation with panoramic views of the region. This morning, drive through the mountainous landscape to explore the historic fort in the village of Nizwa. Here you’ll see the souq workshops where old handicrafts are created and – if you’re there on a Friday – the astonishing must-see local livestock market. Then travel off-road through the red dunes of Sharqiya Sands until you reach the 1000 Nights Camp – your home for the night. Spend your morning taking part in your choice of desert€tivities such as sand boarding or trekking. You’ll then continue to Sur’s fish jetty and dhow factory. Later, you’ll stop at Fins Beach for a swim, before continuing your journey on to the incredible Bimah Sinkhole – a waterfilled limestone crater. The final stop is the oasis at Wadi Arbayeen. Your holiday draws to a close today with an airport transfer for your flight home. Alternatively, you can choose to extend your stay and explore more of Oman’s sights.
