Discover Myanmar

From: £2695.00

Your trip starts in Yangon where, over three days, you'll explore this fascinating city experiencing everything from beautiful pagodas and busy markets to a host of lush, tropical gardens that provide welcome shelter from the sun. You'll spend two days discovering Bagan, it's vibrant markets, local crafts and glittering pagodas, of course a visit wouldn't be complete without seeing the famed Shwedagon Pagoda, the most sacred Buddhist temple in Myanmar. From Bagan, you'll head to Heho to spend two days trekking in the foothills of the Shan Mountains. Hosted by the Danu Tribe, you'll spend time with the locals learning their traditions and enjoying lunch together before continuing on your journey. A day walking through Pindaya offers an opportunity to see more of local village life and the wonderful scenery that Myanmar has to offer. And, what better way to end the day than a boat trip on Inle Lake to your hotel for the evening? Inle Lake, famed for its floating villages, offers an opportunity to experience a unique way of life with entire communities based on the water. Watch the fishermen and their unique one-legged paddling technique and try your hand at cooking after picking produce from the floating gardens. Spend a second day in Inle Lake exploring it by bike, visit the Indein pagoda and stop off at the Red Mountain Estate vineyard fro a drop of wine. We recommend spending your last few days in Myanmar in Loikaw, home of the long-neck tribe. A boat ride to Sagar transports you in the most magical way, offering an opportunity to observe the fishermen and the bird and water life that this region is renowned for. Although not always a first stop for travellers to Myanmar, Loikaw has such a diverse mix of tribes, pagodas and markets. There are options to build in additional elements to your trip including walking tours of Yangon, meeting Aung San Suu Kyi's former personal assistant and a traditional Myanmarese cooking class. Plus, no trip to Myanmar would be complete without a sunset Balloon ride over Bagan.
