Many overlanders take more than one trip, some become addicts and most of the others have the trip of a lifetime that leaves them with indelible memories
Consider the different climate zones your overlanding route will take you through. In South America, the weather is stable along the Equator but the southern areas are effected by seasonal change. There are rainy seasons in Asia and Africa that you might want to avoid.
However, with a long overland trip you are likely to experience fluctuations in temperature. One idea is to chase the sunshine. Leave Europe in summer and you can hit Australasia for their warmer months. An organised overland tour will ensure you hit most destinations at their peak.
As with any long trip overseas make sure you visit your GP beforehand. Some of the places you visit will be far from medical centres, so bring medication and make sure you have adequate medical insurance.
