Hi George.... never having been to Sri Lanka (but getting more interested having read so much about blue whale, leopard, and now having see your bird pics) I have no first hand experience but am v familiar with bee eaters from elsewhere. I believe your first and third shot in this sequence to be the same species.... Merops philippinus - the blue-tailed bee eater; the second photo is Merops orientalis - the little green bee eater (sometimes just called the green bee eater)..... so, yes, you had one over your guide for sure. Looking forward to more of Sri Lanka to keep the appetite well whet! All the best
