I thoroughly reccommend haircuts abroad for several reasons.  Firstly, it is MUCH cheaper.  Secondly, I find that they cut it in a completely different way that leaves the 'style' in your hair for MONTHS after.  However be warned, you have to be picky where you choose to get your haircut as my Mother sadly discovered after receiving a bowler type cut in BALI!!!  So my top places to get your haircut ..... CHINA, MALYASIA, HONG KONG, THAILAND!!  Chinese hair dressers are always better.  They give great sylish cuts, and are sooo incredibly cheap it is almost laughable.  My last cut was in Bangkok for about £3.50.  Also China is VERY cheap even just to get your hair blowdride (about 50p to £1).  So there you go - it may be the last thing you think of doing abroad but you won't regret it!

When I lived in Gansu, China, on my gap year I paid ten pounds to have my hair cut and permanently straightened ( it stays lovely and straight for about 6 months). The process takes up to 6 hours, which is extremely lengthy for anyone, especially someone as fidgety as me. However it was totally worth it for the lack of hair hassle after.
I got used to the straightness though, and when I came back to England, had it done here. However the cheapest I found was about 90 quid here!! Rip off! So if you are as obsessed with straight hair as me, and you happen to be in China, get it done for a tenner!!!

If only I'd known this before. I cut my own hair when I was in Tanzania, although not sure how well it compares to China, and I ended up with awful hair for ages!!!
