Liverpool

How long were you there for?
2 days, 1 night

What was the single highlight of your trip?
Liverpool Cathedral - the 5th biggest in the world, apparently. Amazing place - great views all around from the top of the tower. The gardens/cemetery around are beautiful too.

Any lowlights/cautionary tales?
Nope - all good (apart from experience on Virgin Trains getting there and back, but that's another story).

Any absolutely MUST see sights/activities?
The Cathedral! And the docklands area. And the ferry across the Mersey. Loads of interesting architecture - new and old.

Any absolutely DON'T see sights/activities?
Nope

If you could give one piece of advice, what would it be?
Wander around - there's loads to see (including the superlambananas - google them!) and the sights are all fairly central.

Any other comments?
We stayed with a friend in West Kirby - it was a beautiful day and we wandering out on the sand (tide was out) - worth a side-trip if you want to get out of the city. If you fancy some central entertainment, try "The Liverpool" - a pub in the city centre - very amusing place.

Sadly we didn't see the big superlambanana - saw a few others and did bring back a fridge magnet for the hubby (which I seemed to have lost).

Hi Sophie, I'm looking forward to seeing your photos. School has declared a snow day tomorrow so I'll be outside creating a homemade snow superlambanana. I'm going to look up the Cathedral now...

I've got something of a cathedral thing going on - entirely for the architecture, given that I have no religious or spiritual faith of any kind.  That said, cathedrals are, essentially, the most magnificent stonework... better check out Liverpool since that one has eluded me so far.

    Thanks for the heads up
