Nothing beats the sound or sight of the ocean for me but I prefer to be on solid ground

A school trip to the Isle of Wight - over the water and with no parents at the age of 8.

What has been your favourite journey?
Visiting Sri Lanka - friendly people, good food & weather with wild elephants and stunning scenery

Home; Sri Lanka; Paris; Bangkok; Fethiye, Turkey

Recommend a special place to stay
Cinnamon Lodge, Habarana, Sri Lanka - beautiful location - a haven for birdwatchers waking up to Monkeys on your veranda and anywhere that has an entire dessert room gets my vote!

Books; waterproof jacket and passport
