About me: I've just finished a history degree and am trying to resist the urge to pack my bags and head to Africa. I'm hoping that working in the travel industry might satisfy my itchy feet for the time being.

The world according to pjones

Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?
Ocean - I've always love water ever since I was a baby. Whether I'm snorkeling off a fishing boat in Zanzibar or sailing in Sydney Harbour I'm happiest when surrounded by water.

What was your first great travel experience?
Experiencing the Nadaam Festival in Mongolia - watching children under ten completing 120km bareback horse races, trying to master a bow and arrow and laughing at Westerners attempting to wrestle the locals was the perfect way to see Mongolian culture.

What has been your favourite journey?
Budapest to Bled. The Hungarian railway has by far the slowest trains I've ever been on whilst the stunning views into Slovenia made up for the nineteen hour journey. Even arriving into Bled in a storm didn't put a damper onto the joy of being away from the city and once again in breathing fresh air.

What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
Kyoto, Krakow, Mufindi, Tanzania, Great Ocean Road, Australia and Stone Town in Zanzibar.

Recommend a special place to stay
Mwagusi Camp, Ruaha National Park, Tanzania - within ten minutes of entering Ruaha I saw my first lion. Unlike some of the more popular safari destinations in Tanzania, Ruaha is not over-run by tourists looking for the big five. Mwagusi Camp is located next to the river making the walk back to the lodges a careful negotiation of various animals - all I can say is never get between a Hippo and the water.

Which three items do you always pack?
Lucas Paw Paw Ointment, Sun Cream and Uno.

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
Mongolia

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Vietnam

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
Horse Riding - there is nothing better than riding through the countryside on hose back, as well as being a perfect cure for any (rarely occurring) travel sickness.

Window or aisle?
Aisle - being rather tall I normally stretch my legs out and hate disturbing other travelers if I'm stuck by the window.
