The world according to Palmino

Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?
Mountain - for the stunning views and great sense of achievement when climbing peaks

What was your first great travel experience?
Walking along the Great Wall of China

What has been your favourite journey?
Overland from the barren Atacama Desert in the north of Chile to the Bolivian altiplano with active volcanoes, salt lakes and flamingoes.

What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
In no particular order: 1) Machu Picchu, Peru 2) Angkor Wat, Cambodia 3) Sydney, Australia 4) Ang Thong Marine National Park, Thailand 5) Salar de Uyuni salt flats, Bolivia

Recommend a special place to stay
At the foot of Angel Falls, in the middle of the jungle, falling asleep in a hammock to the sounds of running water and nocturnal creatures!

Which three items do you always pack?
I can't do without my camera and mp3 player, however 'back to basics' I'm going; and a roll of toilet paper which can be annoyingly scarce abroad!

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
I have a stamp from Machu Picchu, which is a simple picture of the place and looks great alongside the boring country ones.

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Cuba - but it will lose its appeal if/when it opens up to tourism.

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
At the end of a long, hard overland trip, roughing it in tents and hostels, I can't resist a comfortable hotel with cable TV and pizza!
