The world according to Mik

Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?
100% mountain, the beauty of the mountains is just breath taking.

What was your first great travel experience?
I was lucky enought to travel to lots of places when I was younger. But my first great travel experience on my own was an Austrian exchange when I was 16 which had lots of mountain adventures, including being chased down a mountain by a cow, hilarious now, not so much at the time!

What has been your favourite journey?
Cycling around the karst scenery in Yangshuo and then jumping onto a bamboo raft and rafting along the River Li in China! Yangshuo was one of the most amazing place I have ever been to! I hope to return one day...!

What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
on Safari in Wilpattu National Park, Sri Lanka; going for a stroll in Letna Park looking at the spectacular views over the city of Prague, Czech Republic; being blown away both literally and actually on the Milford Sound, New Zealand; the astounding raw beauty of Iceland; and last but not least Yangshuo and the stunning karst scenery.

Recommend a special place to stay
Te Tiro, a quaint little cottage in Waitomo, New Zealand, well away from the touristy area with beautiful vistas and their own glow worms to top it off!

Which three items do you always pack?
My camera, iPad and kindle!

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
China.

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Cambodia, Vietnam or Laos... take your pick!

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
Indulging in a good book and a nice glass of red wine.

Window or aisle?
I like to see where I am going so it has to be the window!
