The world according to Mel
Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?
Definately ocean - you can't beat waking up on the water on a boat with a cup of tea or watching a moody sunset...
What was your first great travel experience?
Morocco aged 8 - my first family holiday abroad! It was fascinating but we quickly learnt not to show too much interest in the goods for sale - unlike my Nan, who was covered from head to toe in jewellery, clothing, leather goods.. on more than one occasion!
What has been your favourite journey?
Difficult - will come back to this one
What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
Lundy Island, North Devon, UK
Cape Le Grande NP, Esperance, Western Australia
Raratonga, Cook Islands
3rd sister, Milln Reef, Great Barrier Reef - about 30mts underwater - fabulous dive!
Thatcher Point, Torbay, Devon, UK
Recommend a special place to stay
Cactus Beach, South Australia, 21km off the beaten track down a corrogated road (if your teeth can take it). A beautiful bay, good surf, bush camp with open air facilities - stunning.
Which three items do you always pack?
Sarong
Ear Plugs
Travel washing line
Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
Australia - it was a childhood dream and I made it!
Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Antarctica - do they have a passport stamp? Perhaps a T-shirt, stick of rock...?
Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
Con Mano's in Barceloneta, Barcelona - No frills, old fashioned locals' diner tucked away in the back streets. The food is beautifully basic, order fish - you get fish, fresh fish. Peppers and you get, you guessed it, peppers... Get a 3 course meal with a bottle of wine (each!) for around 10 euro pp.
